14 Days of Love: Day 13 JoelySue Burkhart
The Order would love to welcome JoelySue Burkhart!
When a door closes, another opens...
A few months ago, my first publisher, Drollerie Press, closed their doors. That's a tough thing for everyone involved, but I was determined to use the opportunity to get my foot into the self-pub door. This was my chance to do everything exactly the way I wanted, from the covers to the pricing and everything in between. I was lucky that the works had already been professionally edited since they'd been previously released - but I wanted to get some new attention to the series, and I decided the best way would be fantastic covers.
I admit that my cover concept was heavily influenced by my love for George RR Martin's Game of Thrones, both the books (on my keeper shelf) and the HBO series. Drogo was always one of my favorite characters even before Jason Momoa played him so fabulously *drools* and so I decided to put my own gorgeous barbarian warlord on the cover of The Rose of Shanhasson. I hired a fantastic cover artist,, and she took this stock cover: Silviya Yordanova
and came up with
It's perfect, from his long hair to the green memsha wrapped around his hips and the view of Shanhasson beyond. And yeah, his incredible chest... Perfect. *happy sigh*
Once we had Rhaekhar's cover figured out, the other two concepts were easy. It was just a matter of finding the right stock photos and Silviya did her magic once more

I love the covers as much as I love the stories inside, and I hope you do too! Joely always has her nose buried in abook, especially one with mythology, fairy tales, and romance. Find her on her website, Twitter, and Facebook.. Be sure to check out her Free Reads

Yes! Very Khal Drogo/Jason Momoa. I especially like the third cover.
Yes, he kind of does look like Jason.
I also like the third cover the best.

Thank you for your comments! I love all of them but must admit the second one (Road) is my favorite.
Oh no, I have never watch Game of Thrones! I don't have the correct cable channels!
